Stanley and Ten Sleepless Knights was established in the early 1970s. The band consisted of 6 original members who played instruments such as: steel (triangle), squash (gourd rasp), flute, guitar, steel bass pan, and banjo.
Throughout the last 49+ years, Stanley and Ten Sleepless Knights have been able to survive the test of time and evolved into a 10 member band to include additional instruments such as: bass guitar, conga drum, piano, drum set, and saxophone. Stanley and Ten Sleepless Knights have travelled the world and sharing the history and joy of Virgin Islands quelbe music. Between 2000-2001, Ten Sleepless Knights became a 501(c) 3 non-profit entity, whose primary mission is to ensure that quelbe music withstands the changes of time by providing scholarships to Virgin Island students who will pursue a degree in music.

"Our efforts of supporting young people would not be possible without the support of the Virgin Islands Lottery. The funds they have helped us with have enabled us to put on a number of events, which have raised additional funds which were able to support our young people in terms of securing their college degrees and preserving music. Again, we want to thank the VI Lottery for their belief in our efforts, and their belief in our young people, and their academic excellence."
- Dr. Larry Larson, President, Ten Sleepless Knights, Inc.
