Virgin Islands Lottery Temporarily Ceases Operations Due to Cyberattack
Update March 31, 2025
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Lottery would like to provide an update on the status of our restoration.
Over the last week the VIL has been engaged in a recovery plan that involves several contractors, BIT and our staff working collectively to restore the data. We have re-entered most of the information with the hope of completion by Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Our next step will be the 'testing phase' to ensure that the restored information is accurate and that all required systems are functional. Once this is completed, we will restart our operation in both Districts.
The plan is to continue ticket sales for drawing number 1048. In addition to ticket sales we want to ensure that we can begin printing checks to pay our customers, dealers, vendors etc. We are cautiously optimistic that we can do drawing number 1047 by the end of this week, specific date to be determined.
We are committed to keeping the public informed and will continue to provide updates via our official website and social media channels. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and assure the community that we are working as swiftly as possible to resume operations securely.
